While the OB-X was limited in some ways, the OB-Xd includes a number of additional or modified features. One of the OB-Xd’s key features is its implementation of micro-random detuning, which helps create a fuller, richer sound. Overall, the OB-Xd was designed to create a sound as rich and refined as the original OB-X.

Without copying the originals, some features have been refined to perfection. A continuously blendable multi-mode filter (HP-Notch(BP)-HP in 12 dB mode and 4-1 pole in 24 dB mode) is also included. Like many OB-X generation synthesizers, the OB-Xd has no internal effects, so its sounds and textures can be significantly enhanced with additional processing such as chorus, reverb, delay, and more.

Furthermore, for those interested in micro-tuning, the OB-Xd features MTS-ESP support. This allows for more precise control over settings, ideal for sophisticated synthesizer musicians.

The free version offers a fully functional standalone application along with Audio Unit, VST2, and VST3 plugins (remove the oversampling feature). Purchasing a registered version adds resampling capability, commercial rights to versions 2.x and 3.x1, additional AAX and LV2 plugin formats, and dedicated technical support to help you get the most out of the software.
